Loading Your SmartVault™
To ensure that your moving experience is convenient and successful, Smart Move has developed the following guidelines for properly loading a SmartVault.
  • Protect furniture with padding prior to loading.
  • Be aware of handles, dials, trim and loose legs on furniture.
  • Be sure not to place too much weight or stress on fragile parts of furniture, such as chair legs.
  • Heavy items act as a base for lighter items such as toys, chairs and lightweight boxes.
  • Begin loading in the back of the vault and work your way to the door. (A)
  • Always try to distribute the weight in your Smart Vault evenly. Avoid loading the weight all on one side. (B)
  • Load heavy items on the bottom and lighter items on top.
  • Place sofas on end to make the best use of space.
  • Thoroughly clean each appliance, wrap cords and unhook hoses prior to loading. Special care may be required when moving some appliances.
  • Top off the load with flat items such as mattresses to avoid shifting.
  • Use a strong padlock to lock your Smart Vault when unattended

Building Tiers
The most efficient way to load your Smart Vault is through a process of building tiers. A tier is a single row of items stacked from floor to ceiling. Your vault will consist of several tiers. To build a tier, start with heavy items such as a dresser or appliance. Place medium-weight items and boxes in the middle and light and fragile items toward the top of each tier.

Building tight tiers (C) is the key to protecting your assets from shifting and damage. To keep your tiers tight, fill in all open spaces with smaller items. To maximize space in the vault, try to keep the items in each tier approximately the same width. Extremely heavy or large items such as a big screen T.V., piano or refrigerator should be loaded in the center of your Smart Vault. Smart Move recommends you tie or strap these items to the base of the vault and lock the wheels if possible.

CAUTION!
  • Do not load more than 2500 pounds
  • Do not load any hazardous or flammable materials
  • Do not load any liquids
  • Make sure the door is closed and locked when finished loading
